Gaborone — Lusaka Dynamos player, Lone Gaofetoge, says her desire is to witness more Batswana female footballers plying their trade in other countries.
The player, who joined Dynamos last month, has settled well in her new home.
The senior national football team and former Geronah FC player has clinched a six months deal with the Zambian side.
She said having more Botswana players in foreign teams would boost the national team’s performance.
Since arrival, she has played four games with two assists and two goals.
Gaofetoge said in an interview that, playing for Dynamos was a great opportunity given that the league was active and she would employ the experience tapped in Zambia in future national team games.
She said she was enjoying her stay in Zambia, adding that despite having scored two goals, she was still trying to adapt to the team’s style of play.
The team, she said, played long balls whereas she was accustomed to the ‘one-two’ style of play, adding that most of the team’s players also used their physical strength.
Furthermore, she said she was happy that Zambia women’s football league was given more attention, adding that she wished Botswana could emulate them and prioritise women’s football.
Zambia senior women football team, the Copper Queens, has qualified for the Tokyo 2020 games and Gaofetoge attributed that to their hard work and resilience.
Meanwhile, Gaofetoge will miss two games after she was given a red card in their game against BUSA, her side won 4-0 and she nettede the third goal in the 30th minute.
